OpenAI researcher csvoss: steering vectors are useful but not yet productized, like pre-smartphone GPS
csvoss · x · 2026-10-13
In a debate with @GuiveAssadi and @tszzl, researcher csvoss clarified her position: she does think steering vectors are useful — her point is that they haven't yet been effectively productized.
She draws an analogy to GPS before ubiquitous smartphones: the technology existed long before its value was fully unlocked. Steering vectors, she argues, are in a similar untapped state.
