Softcatalà launches GarbellaVeus, a crowdsourced platform to validate Catalan speech datasets

Softcatalà has launched GarbellaVeus, an open platform for validating Catalan speech datasets: listeners hear an audio clip and vote on whether its automatic transcription (generated by whisper-large-v3-turbo) is correct. Clips with enough positive votes get marked as validated.
Key points:
- Fills a gap in spontaneous Catalan speech data; clips come from CC-BY-licensed YouTube videos such as municipal plenaries and conferences
- Plans to tag clips by dialectal variant, register, and domain to capture the language's diversity
- Currently in beta; the team is asking the public to test it and report bugs
