Open-source iCTRL lets coding agents drive iPhone apps over Wi-Fi via XCUITest
dotey · x · 2026-10-13
OpenMinis open-sourced iCTRL, an XCUITest-based iPhone automation tool built for AI agents: Codex, Claude Code, Hermes and Minis can tap, type, read screens (with built-in OCR) and launch apps on iPhone/iPad over Wi-Fi or on-device. It ships with a Skill so an agent that only knows the IP learns to drive the phone itself, streams the screen to a browser, and is designed for unattended runs. Practical caveats from hands-on testing: setup is fiddly (let an agent walk you through the README), LAN IP changes break pairing (token stored in /.ictrl/token.), and defensive apps like Taobao detect the test framework and force re-logins.
