Perplexity CEO: sovereign funds want its agent fully on-prem with Perplexity locked out of data
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-13
Perplexity founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas revealed on the 'Sourcery with Molly O'Shea' podcast that government-linked sovereign funds have approached the company to run its agent product entirely on hardware they own, with Perplexity fully locked out of their data.
The trade-off:
- Perplexity can't see bugs or learn from usage — it can only push software updates.
- Customers get complete control and trust over their data.
It's a telling signal of how sovereign/government customers weigh data sovereignty over product iteration speed for AI agents.
