If AI writes everything, whoever controls the model controls the truth
That_ian · reddit · 2026-10-13
A self-described pro-AI Redditor worries that outsourcing work to AI means silently signing away freedom of expression. His scenario: a reporter with no investigative or writing skills has AI draft a story about a mining company poisoning a town's water, and an editor runs it through another AI—one trained by a company that filters out anything slanderous toward its affiliates. The story gets whitewashed, no public outcry follows, and the company keeps operating.
He admits the example is overblown but points to an old truth: whoever controls information controls the people. The deeper issues are atrophy of writing and investigative skills and opaque gatekeeping by a handful of model owners.
