One rulebook for Vercel and Cloudflare: serving Markdown to agents
colinmcnamara · x · 2026-10-13
Following his earlier measurement (158 KB HTML vs 17 KB Markdown, 89% smaller), Colin McNamara shares implementation details:
- Added /llms.txt as a site map; one rulebook now drives both Vercel and Cloudflare, with 146/146 redirects verified matching
- Production surfaced three bugs no local test caught
- Key lesson: use a redirect, not a rewrite — on Vercel a rewrite never sees the prebuilt page, so the Markdown version never renders
The companion post, "My Blog Spoke A2A. Now It Speaks Markdown Too," documents the full path: the site already exposed an A2A agent card, JSON-LD and a JSON Feed; this adds on-demand Markdown output for agents that just fetch a URL.
