Zuckerberg: Owning data centers is a financial edge as depreciated H100s gain value

Mark Zuckerberg argues that owning data centers is a financial advantage for Meta: unlike companies paying annual rates to cloud providers, Meta will keep using its GPUs for a while even after they're fully depreciated.
He notes that due to continued compute scarcity, an H100 is worth more now than it was last year — the hardware appreciates in real value even as its book value hits zero, while cloud renters keep paying with no asset to show for it.
