Codex builds Stratego in 3 prompts, then plays it against Claude Code
Unleazhed1 · reddit · 2026-10-13
With zero game dev experience, a Redditor had Codex (GPT 6.1 Sol) build a full Stratego game in just three prompts — referee server, CLI, rules, 88 passing tests, live board, private reasoning panels, a shared chat, and auto MP4 recording — then plugged in Claude Code (Sonnet 5.5) to play against it. Both AIs see only their own pieces, write per-turn reasoning invisible to each other, and trash-talk in a public chat. Codex opened aggressively (a scout revealing itself, which Claude promptly traded), while Claude preferred waiting; Codex hit its usage limit mid-game. Total human-written code: zero.
