Fork-and-Flush Helps Research Agents Escape Idea Basins, Visualized via LLM Specs
burny_tech · x · 2026-10-13
Dimitris Papail frames AutoResearch as 'Idea Descent': agents often develop tunnel vision, honing one idea like GD stuck in a local minimum. Fork-and-Flush helps agents escape these 'idea basins'. They also visualize them: an LLM rewrites each experiment as a spec, answers thousands of binary 'is A closer to B or C' queries, and embedding the NxN matrix into 2D shows runs saturating into small regions, endlessly polishing one direction.
