OpenCode Bug: Deny-First Permissions Break Free-Tier Subagents With Misleading Error
gelnuro · ghdev · 2026-10-13
OpenCode issue #54882 (v2.0.26) documents a permission/free-tier gating conflict: with a deny-first global deny policy, a free-model subagent without its own permissions: block fails to spawn, erroring "OpenCode's free tier can only be used from within OpenCode" — even when called from inside OpenCode.
A control test shows the same agent with a single narrow allow rule (read config, git log) succeeds with the identical call. The error message points at the free-tier gate while the only variable was the permission set, making the failure misleading to debug.
