Google's AI Edge Foresight puts meeting notes on the Mac, keeps audio on-device
shashib · x · 2026-10-13
Google launched Google AI Edge Foresight, an experimental Mac app that expands your short typed bullets from an on-device transcript and answers questions from local files — audio, transcripts, and files never leave the machine, there's no cloud fee, and it runs offline.
- Split-screen layout: your notes on one side, generated notes on the other; a Gemma 4 assistant answers questions about the meeting
- Load PDFs, Google Docs, Office files, plain text, Markdown, and web bookmarks into a local knowledge base
- File lookup uses EmbeddingGemma 2, announced Oct 6 by Google DeepMind: 740M parameters, Gemma 4 architecture, Apache 2.0 licensed, mapping text/images/audio/video into one space; quantized text-only weights need 191MB active memory on a Pixel 11 Pro, full model 567MB
- Optimized for Apple Silicon; it's a Labs app, not a Workspace product
