NVIDIA and Cisco unveil USFP optics: 400G-per-lane, 4x bandwidth density for AI factories
pstAsiatech · x · 2026-10-13
NVIDIA and Cisco announced USFP (Ultra-Dense Small Form Factor Pluggable), a new optical transceiver for next-gen AI factory Ethernet fabrics:
- First module designed for 400Gb/s-per-lane electrical signals, scaling to 12.8Tb/s capacity
- Delivers 4x the bandwidth density and 1.3x the power efficiency of 200Gb/s-per-lane optics
- Lets operators scale compute within the same network footprint without adding switch tiers, cutting latency, power and cost
- Building a multi-source hardware ecosystem with TE Connectivity and Amphenol
