Incognito isn't a privacy shield — and Chrome quietly stores Gemini Nano AI files on disk
LearnWithBishal · x · 2026-10-13
In his Chrome privacy series, a researcher reminds users that Incognito mode mainly stops Chrome from saving browsing history locally — it does not hide activity from websites, employers, or network providers, and closing the window doesn't erase your online identity.
He also notes Chrome can download on-device AI model files, such as weights.bin tied to Gemini Nano in some configurations, which can take up significant disk space. Worth checking what your browser actually installed.
