NVIDIA and Cisco unveil USFP optics: 400Gb/s per lane, 4x bandwidth density
BenBajarin · x · 2026-10-13
NVIDIA and Cisco announced USFP (Ultra-Dense Small Form Factor Pluggable), the first module supporting 400Gb/s-per-lane signals with up to 12.8Tb/s capacity. It delivers 4x the bandwidth density and 1.3x the power efficiency of 200Gb/s-per-lane optics, letting AI factories add compute without extra network tiers. TE Connectivity and Amphenol are building a multi-source ecosystem. Analyst Ben Bajarin notes pluggables will still dominate connectivity share for years even with NPO on the horizon.
