RachelVT42 · x · 2026-10-13
A UC Berkeley-led study across three randomized experiments with 1,222 participants found that roughly 10 minutes of ChatGPT use measurably reduced persistence and independent performance once the tool was removed — AI-assisted groups performed better while assisted, then showed sharper accuracy drops and higher giving-up rates.
The poster argues foundational skills (mental math, spelling, memorization) are non-negotiable in education, and warns skipping mental fitness may raise future dementia risk.
