Anthropic launches Cyber Mission: critical infrastructure defense and free OSS scanning
thione · x · 2026-10-12
Anthropic announced Cyber Mission, a long-term effort to support defenders. It starts with two programs: the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program (CIDP), bringing frontier models, on-site engineers and threat research to defenders of power grids, water systems, transportation and government systems; and OSS Scanner, free regular vulnerability scans and patch proposals for open-source projects using its strongest models. The company notes state-sponsored adversaries have spent years gaining footholds in these systems, and that despite Project Glasswing uncovering many vulnerabilities, verifying, prioritizing and fixing them remains the bottleneck.
