A Claude Code workflow that splits work across Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 for cost and speed
Arindam_1729 · x · 2026-10-12
A tiered Claude Code workflow built on "your most expensive model shouldn't do your cheapest work":
- Roles: Opus 5.5 plans and synthesizes the final PR; Sonnet 5.5 does precise refactors in isolated worktrees; Haiku 5.5 filters candidates at 340 tok/s.
- Haiku sits at 3 bottlenecks: parallel AST sweeps before dispatch (without bloating context), catching malformed tool calls and false positives before Sonnet, and schema-checking every candidate before synthesis.
- Setup: Opus drafts workflow scripts in .claude/workflows/ at high effort; Haiku fans out AST sweeps at low effort.
- The companion article covers a 5-layer setup for running Claude Code in YOLO mode (--dangerously-skip-permissions) safely.
