ColGrep-Agent cuts per-question tool calls from 7.1 to 4.0 by searching locally
IgorCarron · x · 2026-10-12
LightOn explains why ColGrep-Agent is cheaper: fewer Claude turns overall. Per question: Claude turns 5.5→3.9, grep/find/ls calls 5.1→2.0, file reads 2.0→0.9.
The trade-off is slightly higher end-to-end latency from the local agent, so the team made the Balanced mode (Claude picks between ColGrep and ColGrep-Agent) the default.
