Codex keeps stalling on legit debugging over cybersecurity guardrails, user complains
Al_Grigor · x · 2026-10-12
User Al Grigor reports that OpenAI Codex repeatedly kills his tasks over "cybersecurity" guardrails: while debugging an adapter whose logs exposed tokens in query strings, Codex was blocked mid-task ("We take extra care with some cybersecurity requests"), the goal got marked stalled, and resuming triggered a new refusal because the context already contained flagged content. He says this has happened for days and publicly asked Codex lead Thibault Sottiaux to fix it — highlighting how safety guardrails can wrongly abort legitimate security debugging in long-running agent tasks.
