Karpathy: 75% of the world hasn't touched LLMs while 5,000 see frontier agent swarms

OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy, now at Anthropic, says there is a widening knowledge gap around AI: roughly 75% of the world's population has barely used an LLM, while only about 5,000 people can access internal frontier systems whose agent swarms do work that would take top experts years. The public, at best, sees "a weird chatbot." He argues the outside world has only seen "the preview" of AI's real capabilities — a gap with major implications for public understanding and policy readiness.
