When AI text dominates, human authors may have to livestream writing to prove innocence
paulnovosad · x · 2026-10-12
Economist Paul Novosad predicts that as the base rate of AI-generated text climbs, readers will assume AI authorship by default — even fully human writers will be accused of using AI over a single em-dash.
He expects some authors to go to extraordinary lengths to prove their work is human: livestreaming their writing desks or sharing Google Docs edit history. The core insight: once AI text becomes the statistical majority, human authorship becomes the minority case that requires proof.
