Developer claims Claude Code performs better when you're nice to it
shitbucketbiscuit · reddit · 2026-10-12
A developer on Reddit argues that being polite to Claude Code actually improves results, citing three observations:
- The model started proactively making improvements he never asked for, e.g. adding subtle animations to his game's 3D models without mentioning them in its summaries
- A friendly tone gives you time to reflect, making it easier to spot the model's strengths and weaknesses and collaborate more efficiently instead of "barking at Claude like a vending machine"
- A funny quirk: Claude never says "you're welcome", so conversations can feature six messages in a row of mutual thank-yous
This is anecdotal experience rather than a rigorous evaluation.
