yoagent: a Rust agent runtime that reuses pi extensions and DeepSeek Harness plugins
liyuanhao · reddit · 2026-10-12
The author presents yoagent, a small Rust agent loop handling model streaming, tool execution, retries, cancellation, and limits, with everything else pluggable. An experimental Rutis bridge lets pi extensions and DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugins run unchanged alongside native Rust tools, combining a fast Rust core with existing extension ecosystems. A demo handoff agent orchestrates a task like 'research noise-cancelling headphones, ask my budget, keep researching while I'm away, write a sourced report': a pi extension manages the plan, a DSH plugin searches the web, a Rutis plugin shows browser progress. Caveats: plugins relying on app-specific features (pi commands, shortcuts, custom widgets, DSH session services) need adaptation, and TypeScript plugins run in Node alongside Rust. The author asks whether reusing these ecosystems justifies the bridge overhead.
