Hugging Face hosts open RL environment with 369 tasks rebuilt from OpenAI's formal math results
aigclink · x · 2026-10-12
A new Hugging Face dataset (FineEnvs/openai-math) packages OpenAI's recently released formal math results into an open reinforcement learning environment.
- Scale: 369 tasks, 405 formal math problems across 214 problem types, each offering a Lean 4 statement with a sorry for models to complete.
- Grading: proofs are checked by the Lean FRO's Comparator in a separate sandbox; correct proofs earn reward 1, everything else 0 — ready to plug into RL pipelines.
- No internet access and OpenAI's original proofs are not installed, preventing answer leakage.
- Caveats: early-stage verifier only accepts the original formalization, so equivalent proofs may be wrongly rejected; best treated as a practice ground for now.
