Are transaction fees the only way to monetize personal AI agents? Not so fast
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-12
A hot take argued that personal AI agents can only monetize via transaction fees, since subscriptions add adoption friction and ads would break the trust that the agent represents the user.
@sujingshen pushes back: transaction fees require the agent to actually spend money on your behalf, and very few scenarios today justify letting it place orders. Subscriptions do have a barrier, but the try-monthly, renew-if-worth-it model is already proven for AI products and remains the safer path.
