The project
Cardiologist David Ouyang released "The Heart by Ultrasound" (intro2echo.com), a free, interactive illustrated echocardiography tutorial built with Claude Code, with code open-sourced on GitHub.
Highlights
- Free probe movement: you can freely move both TTE and TEE probes and the site generates the corresponding 2D image from a 3D heart model
- Coverage: ultrasound physics, standard views, cardiac physiology, hemodynamics, ventricular function, normal values, and common diseases (amyloid, ischemic CM, Barlow MR, bicuspid AS)
- AI consistency: specify a heart phenotype and Claude Code keeps all images consistent and physiologically plausible across views and chapters. The author notes even with unlimited time he couldn't create such a tutorial.
