Elon Musk predicts traditional phones will go extinct within 5-6 years, becoming mere "edge nodes for AI inference" that only render screens and audio. He says operating systems and apps will disappear, all content will be delivered through AI that anticipates user needs, and most music and video people consume by then will be AI-generated — citing users already making coherent 10-15 minute videos with Grok Imagine.
