Open-source MCP image/video server: Qwen-Image 2.1 Turbo runs on 4GB VRAM with 16 tools
Delicious-Farmer-234 · reddit · 2026-10-12
The open-source MCP-Image-Generator-Uncensored project updated, letting local LLMs generate and edit media via MCP with low VRAM requirements:
- Qwen-Image-2.1 Turbo: runs on as little as 4GB VRAM (tested on GTX 1650, slow but works); 8GB gives better speeds
- New Kandinsky 6 Lite (3B) video generation on 8GB: 5–20s clips with sound, alpha-channel animations, GIFs
- Image features: text-to-image, editing with up to 10 combined images, photo restoration/colorization, in-image text, 360° panoramas
- Extra tools: LoRA watermark removal, texture-fix VAE, ESRGAN 2x/4x upscaling (to 8192px), VTracer SVG, BiRefNet background removal, transparent PNG, seamless tiles with height/normal maps
- Engineering: HTTP Streamable, multi-job queue for low-VRAM systems, multi-GPU support, gallery web UI, one-click setup scripts, 16 tools total
- TODO: MiniMax-H3 and Trellius 2 (image-to-3D)
