WordCraft: open-source Rust reimplementation of Microsoft Word with MCP server
udmrzn · x · 2026-10-12
WordCraft is an open-source, clean-room reimplementation of Microsoft Word in pure Rust, already at 5.8k GitHub stars. It reads/writes .docx with styles, track changes, comments, citations, tables of contents and mail merge, runs on macOS/Windows/Linux and the browser, and ships an MCP server so agents like Claude Code can control the app. Developers caution it's not yet alpha quality.
