White House restores UK's access to frontier AI models for safety testing after lobbying

Per a Times exclusive, the White House reversed a decision to restrict the UK AI Safety Institute's pre-release testing access to the latest Anthropic, OpenAI and Google models after lobbying by UK ministers, including AI minister Kanishka Narayan. Ministers feared losing access would sink Britain's ambition to lead on AI regulation.
