Unitree G1 learns overnight shelf restocking at Danish supermarket, billed per shift
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-10-12
Danish startup Hive Robots has been training a Unitree G1 humanoid for overnight shelf restocking at a Føtex supermarket near Copenhagen since June, in partnership with Salling Group, Denmark's largest retailer. A teleoperator in a VR headset guides each move; the goal is autonomous restocking by early 2027. Instead of selling robots, Hive charges per shift: one robot plus one operator for 8 hours a night, with three robots per store as the next step. Føtex says staff spend 40-50% of their time restocking. Robots are still slower than humans and Danish law must change before they work among shoppers; Salling runs 2,000+ stores across six countries.
