OpenRouter's monthly token traffic has grown from 2T tokens in January 2025 to 379T by July 2026 (chart shows Aug 2026 at 379T, 25x YoY vs 15T and 12x since Jan 2026's 32T), with open-weight models accounting for 75% of tokens generated — a striking sign that open models dominate real inference traffic.
