Schneider to Acquire PTC for $22.6B as Industrial Giants Move Up and Down the Tech Stack
shashib · x · 2026-10-12
shashib analyzes how industrial companies are repositioning across the tech stack: infrastructure firms expanding into applications while application developers move down into security and infrastructure. Schneider Electric — after taking full ownership of AVEVA in 2023 and agreeing to buy Cognite in June 2026 — announced on October 5, 2026 it would acquire PTC for roughly $22.6 billion in cash. PTC's tools (Creo, Windchill, Arena, Codebeamer, ServiceMax) manage physical product design and lifecycle data, complementing Schneider's systems that manage those products in operation, completing full-stack coverage of industrial digitalization.
