Per Punchbowl News, several Republicans signaled openness to AI guardrails:
- House Commerce chair Guthrie (R-KY) called cybersecurity an "immediate threat" akin to bioterrorism and a top congressional priority.
- Senate candidate Hinson (R-IA) said not regulating AI is "a huge risk," urging "common sense safeguards" for kids' use and critical-infrastructure cyber attacks.
- Susan Collins (R-ME) supports federal guardrails; Mike Collins (R-GA) says America must win the AI race against China while protecting citizens.
