Open-source clones of Excel, PowerPoint and Word land, fueling 'AI ends software' debate

Free, open-source replications of Microsoft's Excel, PowerPoint and Word have been unveiled by the creator of free Adobe clones, with Autodesk tools and other subscription services potentially next. Brian Roemmele cites this as vindication of his 2001 claim that AI would ultimately end software and the OS: soon AI will just generate what you need on demand, and you can call it Excel or Word anyway. chrisgrayson asks "now Microsoft... who's next?"
