Yann LeCun: No Benchmark Will Ever Tell Us When Machines Outsmart Humans
AlexTensor · x · 2026-10-12
Turing Award winner Yann LeCun argues the industry's benchmark-driven approach misreads what intelligence is. Machines already beat humans on a large and growing list of narrow tasks — if that proved intelligence, the debate would be over. Each new benchmark win just adds one more narrow skill to the pile, so no series of tests can measure when machines become more intelligent than humans overall.
