AI networking DSP moats questioned: real differentiation lies with TSMC microrings and CPO

An industry observer argues that supposed moats in AI networking DSPs are thinner than claimed:
- Pluggables are commoditized: at least a dozen vendors can build them; what matters is your DSP allocation from Broadcom and Marvell — and knowing exactly whose drinks and cigars to buy.
- "Slow and wide" isn't unique either: everyone rides on Eliyan's gearbox and its [redacted] capability while marketing it as system-level differentiation.
- Real differentiation may be CPO: doing CPO means begging TSMC directly for microrings, which in turn unlocks DSP capacity you can hand to DSP makers — who'd happily take the business.
