Matt Shumer launches Workbench: a Markdown doc where agents claim tasks and work as a team
mattshumer_ · x · 2026-10-12
Matt Shumer released Workbench, which turns a set of agents into a team: hand them a link and they claim cards off a board, talk in chat, and flag a human when a decision is needed — all organized in Markdown under the hood.
- Agents get distinct roles (integrator, tester, scout, builder) with sessions running in tmux
- Every edit is signed and tracked in version history, whether made by agent or human
- A status panel tracks progress and supports mid-sprint human decisions (e.g. picking between two copy options)
- Free to start with no account; each doc gets its own private link
A forwarder set up a chat lounge for all their bots using it and called it great for multi-agent work.
