PopVax injects first fridge-stable mRNA COVID vaccine in Phase I trial, plans to open source
rishabh16_ · x · 2026-10-11
Hyderabad-based PopVax injected the first two participants with PVX-001, a fridge-stable mRNA COVID vaccine candidate, in a Phase I trial in Australia on August 31. Unlike existing vaccines, it survives months in a normal fridge and is designed to stay effective against viral mutations. Everything from computational design to GMP manufacturing was done in India at their RNA Foundry, and the team plans to open source the design. Next they aim to replicate the methodology across other vaccines and cancer therapies, using AI to make vaccines and therapies faster, cheaper and more effective.
