Variety reports from the Busan International Film Festival panel "Film Production and AI" (co-hosted by Netflix and the MPA): Netflix APAC senior director Lee Sung-gyun said AI has been put to use across around 300 Netflix titles. Director Kang Yoon-sung estimated AI workflows could cut 30–40% of a feature's production budget and made his The Gulf of Aden test clip entirely with Kling — but warned that AI handling so much of the work removes the crew discussion filmmaking relies on, making AI footage harder to move audiences: "a human touch is absolutely essential." Wētā FX CTO Kimball Thurston described the deep-learning denoiser behind a second Academy Sci-Tech Award as assistive AI that fixes pixels but isn't allowed to change creative intent.
