macOS 27 recreates Vista's permission-dialog nightmare — Okta pushes XAA protocol for AI agent auth
yenkel · x · 2026-10-11
Reacting to mvernal's jab that macOS 27 has recreated Microsoft Vista's (fka Longhorn) worst trait — endless permission dialogs — twenty years later, Okta's yenkel argues "consent fatigue" is real and growing worse as AI agents act across apps.
His answer is Cross App Access (XAA), a protocol Okta built to let enterprises centrally control AI agent-to-app connections instead of spamming users with per-action consent prompts. He calls for an equivalent of XAA for consumers, tagging the protocol's authors.
The takeaway: agent-era identity and authorization needs protocol-level solutions; per-click human approval doesn't scale with automation.
