Insomnia keeps Mac agents running with the lid closed — engineers warn it overheats
emax · x · 2026-10-11
Open-source tool Insomnia ("caffeinate for the agentic era") lets AI agents keep running on a MacBook with the lid closed: it prevents sleep, pauses unnecessary apps, and can hop onto your phone's hotspot when Wi-Fi drops.
But hardware-minded commenters warn that closed Macs trap heat — sustained load can trigger emergency shutdown and harm the hardware. Don't do this in your bag.
