Jukan pushes back on Terafab: custom fab tools would cost on a scale beyond EVs and rockets
jukan05 · x · 2026-10-11
Analyst Jukan challenged Elon Musk's Terafab plan: equipment vendors have no incentive to build custom tools for one customer when they can keep selling standard tools to Intel, TSMC and Samsung. If Terafab wants bespoke equipment, it must fund it itself—at a scale of tool count and spending far beyond making EVs or rockets. Musk subsequently confirmed they will modify existing machines and build their own.
