Investor Gavin Baker argues that nobody in the AI supply chain takes the roughly $1 trillion of unfunded spending "commitments" from OpenAI and Anthropic even vaguely seriously. He cites TSMC executives dismissing Sam Altman as a nontechnical "podcast bro" after he came to make commitments, and points to public-company executives' answers as evidence that these pledges are functionally irrelevant.
