Open-source Hermes for Tern: a native frontend rendering agent chats inside Tern
Teknium · x · 2026-10-11
A community developer open-sourced hermes-for-tern, a native Tern (terminal) frontend for Hermes Agent.
- Design: "Hermes owns the agent, Tern owns the drawing" — an adapter connecting existing protocols, with no patching, no ANSI scraping, no embedded web chat
- Conversations render as native Markdown, tool rows, subagents, buttons and a docked composer inside Tern
- Updates include: /model switching via a native sheet with prices and search; sudo, API keys, vault and 2FA prompts answered mid-turn and masked as ; live subagent transcripts with interrupt and steer; /btw for side questions beside a running turn; /bg to hand off tasks; failed turns now name the fix (set $KEY, sign in again, limit lifts in 3m); withdrawn approvals say so instead of hanging
Unofficial community project, not affiliated with Nous Research. MIT licensed, 14 stars so far.
