Optimus V3 faces twin hurdles: screw-driving precision and parts supply crunch
JOBhakdi · x · 2026-10-11
At an XTakeover talk, Elon Musk offered a revealing look at two challenges facing the Optimus V3 program. Technical: driving a tiny screw into wood demands both delicate handling and enough force with precise control — an ordinary task requiring extraordinary coordination, highlighting the difficulty of building capable robot hands. Supply chain: building these capabilities also depends on securing components, and Musk indicated restrictions on sourcing. He also joked about earlier armless robots — "A Farewell to Arms" — quipping he tried to be an arms dealer but didn't succeed. A public V3 demo remains awaited.
