Beff Jezos releases Accelerando-8192: an alien glyph alphabet with an 8,192-token tokenizer
beffjezos · x · 2026-10-11
Inspired by the alphabet in Grimes' new Accelerando MV, e/acc figure Beff Jezos launched a playful open-source project arguing that the Latin alphabet is not how machines think in latent space. The repo accelerando-8192 ships exactly 8,192 unique angular mint-green glyphs with a custom tokenizer derived from the first 8,192 mergeable ranks of o200kbase (preserving its pretokenization pattern and all 256 byte values), where token IDs equal glyph IDs across the vocabulary. It also includes a searchable glyph archive, a local browser encoder, downloadable fonts and atlases. No embeddings or model involved — a tokenizer-plus-typography crossover experiment, with encoded lyrics as a demo.
