mcpock: Open-Source MCP Server Health Checker Found Silent Failures Weeks Old on First Run
Open-Appeal-9747 · reddit · 2026-10-11
A developer running 40 MCP servers across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Goose open-sourced mcpock after its first run exposed MCP servers that had been silently broken for weeks. The tool reads agent config files, launches each MCP server the way that agent would, and reports broken, slow, sign-in-blocked or inconsistently configured servers. It is read-only, masks secrets, lives in the menu bar with desktop widgets, ships a helper MCP so agents can self-check, and is MIT-licensed, signed and notarized (macOS 26+, Apple Silicon).
