Claude iOS app's unkillable pseudo-notifications draw fire from ex-OpenAI safety VP
Miles_Brundage · x · 2026-10-11
Miles Brundage, former OpenAI safety VP, called out Anthropic's Claude iOS app for what he describes as pseudo-notifications that can't be turned off: even with notifications disabled, the app shows a persistent "thinking" banner at the top and fires an alert when the task finishes — effectively a notification.
In a follow-up he made clear he dislikes the change, sparking discussion about AI apps pushing past user notification settings.
