OpenAI, Microsoft, Google and 4 others signed a pledge to cover AI data centers' grid costs

A reminder that AI data centers may be more responsible than regular ones on power costs: OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, Oracle, and xAI all signed the Ratepayer Protection Pledge in March, committing to pay for the extra electricity generation and grid infrastructure their data centers require rather than passing those costs to residential consumers.
